Congrats to Subscription & Purchasing Manager Molly Rainard for her participation in the Charleston Fast Pitch Competition. Molly pitched Auraria Library’s venture to research and develop interlibrary loan for streaming video, a future product we are calling SILLVR. Streaming video collections are rapidly overtaking DVDs in libraries. (Did you know you have access to over 100,000 streaming videos through Auraria Library?) For decades libraries have been lending and borrowing books and other media they don’t own from other libraries for their users, but currently there is no system in place to lend and borrow streaming videos. Auraria Library hopes to develop the tools and systems to allow libraries to start lending and borrowing streaming videos via interlibrary loan. Sharing streaming videos, just like libraries share books and other educational content, increases access to digital content and enriches the research experience. Auraria Library staff will be presenting this venture at future conferences including ER&L and ALA Annual.
