Auraria Library
Greetings,
Some years ago, the Auraria Library crafted a Values statement meant to communicate the inclusive support that we offer to the Auraria Campus community. We would like to elaborate on those words and reinforce what we believe in.
The Library welcomes all users, regardless of race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, ancestry, nationality, ethnicity, or citizenship status. This is the will of our organization and is a reflection of the Code of Ethics of the American Library Association.
We support inclusivity and diversity, equity and social justice, the open exchange of ideas, respectful discourse, and civil engagement. We do not tolerate hate speech, silencing, inflammatory rhetoric, or any speech or action that threatens the safety or dignity of any Auraria Campus community member.
The Auraria Library advocates for intellectual and academic freedom, privacy, confidentiality, rigorous research, and open and equitable access to information.
Now more than ever, it is critical that libraries ensure access to credible sources of news, data, and knowledge, and provide expertise, services, collections, tools, and spaces to help our community members critically assess the information they encounter.*
