Applicants are now being accepted for a new director to lead the Auraria Library, which serves CU Denver, Metropolitan State University Denver (MSU), and the Community College of Denver (CCD).
This director will oversee 59 faculty and staff members and will steward the library’s 650,000 physical books, near 2 million annual digital resource impressions, and 320,000 annual visitors.
The posting can be found here.
“The library is a vital strategic partner at the heart of our campus, offering guidance and resources central to our teaching and learning activities, and fostering access and opportunity for more than 40,000 students across three institutions,” said University of Colorado Denver Provost Constancio Nakuma. “It’s important that we recruit a national leader who can fortify our offerings and lead us into the academic library concept of our time.”
The new leader will build on the efforts of Cinthya Ippoliti, who has been director since 2018 and will be departing the library on June 1. Under Ippoliti’s leadership since 2018, the library has solidified its role as an invaluable partner to students, faculty, and staff across campus, successfully evolving its activities and operations through challenges, including COVID, and has worked proactively to align with priorities of the three institutions and the broader community it serves.
“I am so excited for the next chapter in the library’s story, which will continue to build on this strong foundation through the inspirational efforts that library employees offer our campus community,” Ippoliti said.
Though the library’s scope is tri-institutional, the position and hiring process are under the administrative auspices of CU Denver. Provost Nakuma is assembling a broad search committee to include representation from across the Library as well as all three campus institutions. Applications submitted by Feb. 28 will be given full consideration, and Provost Nakuma hopes the next director will start soon after the end of the 2024-25 academic year.
