Auraria Library

New aluminum Lawrence Street entrance canopy of the Auraria Library

The mulit-phased renovation of the Auraria Library is transforming the very idea of the term “library”. Renovations are creating a physical and intellectual space specifically designed to support:

  • teaching and learning excellence - research and creative work excellence
  • community engagement and workforce preparation
  • exploration of a rich, diverse information environment

The 2015-2016 phase of renovation is the Innovating Dreams phase. This phase includes the creation of the new Collaborative Classroom and the new Lawrence Way entrance. The Library Cafe is also undergoing a renovation as work continues to complete the new terrace seating area. Nine new study alcoves were added to the first floor and two new Group Study rooms have been added to the second floor. To complement the physical changes, the expansive wifi upgrade project will be completed in time for the 2016 Fall semester. The three staircases in the Library are in the process of being renovated and “wrapped” with acoustical materials t to help suppress the noise.
