Role in the Library

As the Special & Digital Collections Program Lead Librarian I oversee all aspects of the Special & Digital Collections Unit, including the creation of policies, staffing, and upkeep of collections. I do my work by applying an ethics of care.

Currently the Special & Digital Collections Unit is focused on a backlog of physical collections requiring reprocessing, including the creation of finding aids. For our digital collections we are focusing on a narrow scope of work, including digitizing items from collections that have been reprocessed, metadata cleanup initiatives in the digital repository (https://digital.auraria.edu), as well as dealing with issues with the migration process. Additionally, we have a large number of book items and published materials that require cataloging, as well as a large-scale re-shifting and re-shelving project.

At this time we have limited capacity to support campus researchers, and cannot yet accommodate class visits or instruction. Additionally, we do not digitize items on an ad hoc basis.
